I so enjoyed meeting all of the treespirits so many of you saw during our readings. Thank you for asking such good questions and sharing your fabulous imaginations - Years 1, 2 and 3. Thank you Oakhill Primary for having me read with Years 1, 2, 3. We had a very interesting discussion and loads of curious questions regarding why using and developing our imaginations is so important for building our lives and our future. What fun to read with Year 1 and 2 classes yesterday at @charterhousesquareschool. The children had tremendous imaginations and the teachers reported their first question was "when can we write our own stories?"! I can’t wait to see them along with drawings of some of the new spirits I heard appeared.

Such fun reading yesterday @gardenhouseschoollondon. They had very creative active minds. Jacob in Year 1 gave me a hug and thanked me for "the best book ever!". Thank you Jacob and thank you to each of you and so looking forward to your drawings for the spirits you find when your teachers take you for a walk.

UK Tour 2023

We were thrilled to tour the UK and share Tree Spirits with so many. Thank you to those who joined us!

Chisenhale Primary School

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Louise for coming into Chisenhale Primary School to read her story “Tree Spirits” to the Year 1 and 2 classes. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the illustrations and using their imagination to interpret the images. The children have enjoyed reading the book since the visit and often say it’s one of their favourites.

Began the tour in Leeds, where my parents grew up, this time visiting two primary schools in Horsforth. The children saw many interesting new Tree Spirits, including a duck-billed platypus. I look forward so much to seeing their drawings and stories.

It was pure joy this morning to be with Sonia's classroom of engaged, incredible K-2 year olds.  Their school, Mountain Elementary, is at the tippy top of California (almost at the Oregon border) and they have such spirit!

I so enjoyed reading with Ms. Shiner’s Kindergarten class today in Lancaster. They had such wonderful ideas for so many of the spirits.

It was a delight to read with the three third grade classrooms together, such a wonderful group of children.

I asked the children, “what do you think a tree spirit is?”

Their reply: “A tree with a magical spirit, a ‘magical tree.’”

Eagle Mountain Elementary

What creative ideas! The best part is, there are no wrong answers. The children had such interesting observations as we explored the spirits together. 

Teague Elementary

This class was so wonderful - it was thrilling to read with them! They were bursting with ideas, their voices became as a cacophony of warm musical sounds for me.

Ben Lomond

What a joy to read to the students at Ben Lomond Elementary in Covina. The classrooms were brimming with excitement and wonderful ideas as we discovered the spirits hiding in the trees!

Ridgewood Elementary

The students at Ridgewood Elementary were very observant, and had some really creative ideas for the spirits they saw!  When looking at this photo one student said: ”I see a female lion because she doesn’t have a mane...”

Kawana Springs Elementary

It was wonderful to read to the 2nd graders at Kawana Springs Dual Immersion School in Santa Rosa. I’m looking forward to doing more readings with other classes in the coming months! 

Canyon Crest Elementary

It was such fun to read to the students at Canyon Crest! There were so many interesting questions and ideas as we explored the spirits together.

Teague Elementary School

Ms. Shelly, the librarian at Teague Elementary School, did a fantastic job of facilitating the reading today. The children had many fascinating observations about the spirits they saw.

Carver Elementary School

The reading at Carver Elementary was terrific! The students were engaged and had such imaginative answers to the question: “What do you see when you look up at this tree?”

Monterey Highlands Elementary

Mrs. Yoshida's third grade class in Monterey Park had such wonderful imaginations - it is so much fun being with each of these classrooms and seeing the tremendous creativity.

Sumner Danbury Elementary

In Ms. LaForge's second grade classroom when we came to the elephant page, many hands went up, exclaiming excitedly, “It’s an octopus!” “I see a jellyfish!”

B’nai Simcha Preschool

It was such a pleasure to share Tree Spirits with the preschool class at B'nai Simcha. The students was engaging and curious, and the staff did a fantastic job facilitating the reading.

The 2nd graders in Ms. Sylvester's class had some wonderful ideas about the spirits they saw. It was a joy to share Tree Sprits with your class!

Louise is thrilled to have read to 4 classrooms, Kindergarten through 3rd grade at Kennedy STEM Academy in Artesia. She opened with, “I’m going to invite you now into my imagination, it might be different from yours. What do YOU see?” The children called out their ideas: “I see a monkey!” “I see a camel!” “A dinosaur!” The best part is, there are no wrong answers.
